Enhancing Security Beyond Your Front Door: A Guide for Elkhart, TX Homeowners

True home security means protecting every potential point of entry. Burglars often target less obvious entry points like back doors and garages. The team at Blackwood Mobile Locksmith helps Elkhart, TX homeowners identify and secure these vulnerabilities.

  • Sliding Glass & Patio Doors: Many standard factory latches on sliding glass doors are notoriously weak and can often be forced open with relative ease. Furthermore, these doors can sometimes be lifted off their tracks, creating another significant security flaw. To address these issues, we offer comprehensive solutions. We can perform sliding glass door lock repair on existing mechanisms or replace them entirely with more robust and secure models. We highly recommend adding secondary locking devices for any sliding door in Elkhart, TX; these include professional-grade charley bars (security bars), loop locks, or foot-operated bolts, all of which provide a strong physical barrier against forced entry. Additionally, we can install anti-lift devices that prevent the door from being dislodged from its track from the outside.
  • French Doors & Double Doors: The "passive" door in a set of French or double doors, which is the one without the main lock, is frequently secured only by weak top and bottom slide bolts. This makes it a vulnerable point of entry. Our solutions focus on reinforcing this weakness. We recommend installing a high-quality, single-cylinder deadbolt that extends securely into the passive door, effectively anchoring both doors. Alternatively, we can upgrade your system to a more secure multi-point locking system, which ensures both doors are firmly anchored to the frame at multiple points.
  • Garage Doors: The entry door from your garage into your Elkhart, TX house is a critical yet often overlooked vulnerability. Typically, this is an interior-grade door fitted with a simple knob lock, offering minimal security. If a burglar gains access to your garage, they then have a private, hidden space to work on getting into your main living area without being seen. To counter this, we strongly advise upgrading the entry door lock by installing a high-security deadbolt on the door leading from your garage into your house – you should treat it with the same level of security as any other primary exterior door. Beyond the entry door, we can also secure the garage door itself by adding manual slide locks to the interior of the garage door tracks. These provide a strong physical barrier, especially useful when you're home or away for extended periods.
  • Windows: Simple factory latches on windows offer very little resistance to being pried open, making them easy targets for intruders. While Blackwood Mobile Locksmith are not window specialists, we can provide expert advice on and install a variety of secondary window locks. These locks add a crucial layer of security, significantly bolstering the protection of your Elkhart, TX home, especially for ground-floor windows.By assessing every entry point, from your front door to your back patio, the professionals at Blackwood Mobile Locksmith can help you create a comprehensive security plan for your Elkhart, TX residence.Call us today for your affordable quote!

Elkhart, TX Insights: Population,
Zip Codes, Influence, and Service Areas

The history of Elkhart starts with Daniel Parker's Pilgrim Predestinarian Baptist Church. It was formed in Crawford County, Illinois in 1833, because the government of Mexico would not allow the Baptist church's organization within their borders. Daniel, and his father John Parker, led their congregation to Texas, settling in Austin's Colony in 1834. While John Parker's group settled and established Fort Parker (Limestone County), Daniel's group settled first in the territory that became Grimes County and later moved to the area around Fort Houston (Anderson County). Daniel Parker spent his time traveling and preaching in the homes of his scattered congregation. In 1836, the threats of General Santa Anna's troops in April 1836, and the attack of Fort Parker in May 1836 sent the remnant of John Parker's group to seek protection near Fort Houston. The Pilgrim Church resumed meetings in February 1837, and resolved in 1839 to build a church house, selecting 2.5 acres "on the north side of the bluff of the Harrison Fork of Bayou Blue near Daniel Parker's house". They constructed a log house and cleared a burial ground where Daniel Parker was buried in 1844. The church, now called Old Pilgrim Church, which has been replaced several times since the first log house, was the center of the community called Parker's Settlement, or just Pilgrim.
